Men’s Basketball Travels to Duquesne on Wednesday

Rams looking to win third straight

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University Rams continue their 2016-2017 Atlantic 10 season, the 114th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling to Pittsburgh to face the Duquesne University Dukes in the A.J. Palumbo Center on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:00 p.m.
 
The game will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Sports Network with Ray Goss (p-b-p) and Jarrett Durham (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org with Drew Casey (p-b-p) and Pat Costello (color) announcing. Follow the links above.
 
Fordham enters the game with a 12-15 overall record, 6-8 in the Atlantic 10, after a 54-40 Atlantic 10 win over Saint Louis in the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon, while Duquesne is 10-17 on the season, 3-11 in the A-10, after falling to George Washington, 77-70, in the A.J. Palumbo Center on Sunday afternoon.
 
Wednesday night's contest will be the 36th meeting between Fordham and Duquesne on the hardwood with the Dukes leading the all-time series, which started in the 1949-50 season, 21-14, including a 75-72 win on December 30 in the Rose Hill Gym as Emile Blackmon scored 17 points and Mike Lewis II added 15. Fordham took last year's matchup, 78-69, on March 2 in Pittsburgh as Ryan Rhoomes netted 17 points and grabbed 17 rebounds and Joseph Chartouny added 13 points and seven assists.
 
Notes
 
• Over the past two years, the Fordham University men's basketball squad has won 14 Atlantic 10 Conference games (eight in 2015-2016 and six in 2016-2017), matching the win total from the previous seven years combined.
 
• The 2016-2017 Rams are one of six Atlantic 10 teams to have a winning record in conference road games (4-3). The most A-10 road wins for the Rams are five by the 2006-2007 squad.
 
• Junior forward Christian Sengfelder was named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District last week and he will now be placed on the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors.
 
Sengfelder became the 37th player in Fordham history to reach the 1,000-point plateau in last Saturday's game with Saint Louis.
 
• Sophomore guard Joseph Chartouny is second in the NCAA in steals/game, averaging 3.36 and is third in the league and 44th in the country in assists/game (5.2). He tied his career-high with seven steals against Rutgers.
 
• Chartouny has set a new school record with 84 steals so far in 2016-2017 (former record was 78 by Jason Harris in 1999-2000).
 
• Junior forward Christian Sengfelder has made 149 career three-pointers, the tenth best total in school history.
 
• Graduate transfer Javontae Hawkins netted his 1,000th collegiate point in the VCU game, leading the Rams with 22 points in the contest. Hawkins has 1,107 career points as a collegiate (224 at South Florida, 511 at Eastern Kentucky and 372 at Fordham).
 
• The Rams lead the Atlantic 10 and are fourth in the NCAA in steals per game (10.1) and fifth in total steals (271).
 
• Fordham has recorded double digit steal totals in 16 of the 27 games this year.
 
• The Rams are also second in the NCAA in turnovers forced (17.96) and fourth in turnover margin (5.0).
