Easton, Pa. – The good news for the Fordham football squad was that they held Lafayette to minus-five yards of rushing today and 193 passing yards, with the exception of one play. Unfortunately for the Rams that one play was a 63-yard, fourth-quarter, scoring pass that proved to be the difference as the Leopards knocked off the Rams, 14-10, in a Patriot League at Fisher Field.
Â
With the loss, Fordham falls to 1-5 overall, 0-1 in the Patriot League, while Lafayette improves to 2-4 overall, 2-0 in the conference.
Â
The Rams took a 7-0 lead in the second on a 12-yard scoring strike from
Kevin Anderson to
Austin Longi. The touchdown pass was the 70th in Anderson's career as he moves out of a tie with John Skelton and into first place on the Fordham career list.
Â
The Rams made it a 10-0 game with 3:50 left in the third on a 22-yard
Andrew Mevis field goal before the Leopards scored on a four-yard rush early in the fourth.
Â
Following the Lafayette score with 5:06 remaining, the Rams had two chances at a comeback, the first stopped on downs on the Lafayette ten as Anderson couldn't connect with
Austin Longi in the end zone and the last on the final play of the game as Anderson looked for
Jonathan Lumley but the pass was broken up in the end zone.
