Bronx, N.Y. – After winning twice last week, the Fordham men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday night, when the Rams travel to Kingston, Rhode Island, for a 7:00 PM showdown with the Rhode Island Rams at the URI Soccer Complex.
Fordham (9-3-2, 3-1-1 A10) is coming off a pair of conference wins against St. Bonaventure (2-0) and Saint Joseph's (1-0) last week. The Rams are right in the thick of the playoff race with 10 points, which is tied for fifth with Rhode Island (8-3-3, 3-1-1 A10) and trailing Massachusetts (13 pts.), Dayton (12), VCU (12), and George Washington (12). URI had its 12-game unbeaten streak snapped on Wednesday after falling to Massachusetts in overtime.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 23rd all-time meeting between Fordham and Rhode Island, as the series dates back to 1982. URI leads the series with a 14-6-2 record. However, since 2008, Fordham is 5-2-0 against their counterpart Rams, and the last two meetings were in the Atlantic 10 Championship. In 2014, Fordham topped URI in the championship match, 1-0, on a goal by
Jannik Loebe, while last season, Fordham earned a 4-0 win in the conference semifinals behind two goals each from
Ole Sandnes and Loebe.
NUHU & BOHM EARN ATLANTIC 10 WEEKLY HONORS (10/16): The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly men's soccer awards on Monday with Fordham junior goalkeeper
Rashid Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) earning Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season, while freshman
Jacob Bohm (Berlin, Germany) was named Rookie of the Week for the first time. This is Nuhu's sixth career weekly honor, while being the first for Bohm.
Nuhu registered back-to-back shutouts this past week against St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's, bringing his season total to nine, which is tied for second in the nation with Michigan State's Jimmy Hague. Only Indiana's Trey Muse has more this season with 12. He improved to 9-3-2 on the season, lowering his league-best goals against average to 0.48. His best performance of the week came on Saturday, as he made a season-high six saves in a 1-0 win over the Hawks.
The 1-0 win over Saint Joseph's came courtesy of a game-winning goal by Bohm in the 26
th minute, as he snuck a shot from 14 yards out inside the right post. It was his second straight week with a game-winning goal, as he netted the deciding marker against La Salle, back on October 4
th.
RAMS AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS: As of October 10
th, the Rams are ranked in the top 30 nationally in goals against average (5
th), shutout percentage (3
rd), and save percentage (5th). Individually,
Janos Loebe and
Rashid Nuhu rank in the top 10 in four categories. Loebe is tied for fifth in the nation in game-winning goals with four, while Nuhu is second in shutouts with nine, while being 5
th in goals against average (0.485) and 7
th in save percentage (.851).

Rashid Nuhu made six saves in net, as the Rams defeated the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 1-0, in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action on Saturday night at Jack Coffey Field.

Rashid Nuhu was tested early by the Hawks, making two saves in the first ten minutes. The Rams answered those early chances with two of their own in the 25
th minute, capitalizing on the second to take a 1-0 lead.
Christopher Bazzini came down the right side, crossing a ball to the front of the goal.
Connor DeFilippis got off a header, which was stopped by Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Greg O'Connell. The rebound was headed out by a Hawks defender, but came right to
Jacob Bohm, who fired a shot from 14 yards out inside the right post for his second goal of the season.
The score remained at 1-0 behind Nuhu, who made two more stops in the final eight minutes of the first half, both on shots by Dontrim Namani.
In the second half, Saint Joseph's continued to put the pressure on the Rams in the 50
th minute, as Ritchie Barry fought with Nuhu and Fordham defender
Matthew Lewis on a scramble in front of the net. However, both of Ritchie's attempts were foiled, keeping Fordham on top, 1-0.
Nuhu had to come up big one more time in the final minute of play, as Crawford put together a last shot attempt but the Rams' netminder made his sixth save of the game to complete the shutout win. It was Nuhu's league-leading ninth of the season.
WHO'S NEXT: Following this week, the Rams will have their final regular season home game on Saturday, October 28
th, when the Rams host Saint Louis for Senior Night at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 7:00 PM.
