ResultsWhile the Fordham men's basketball team was taking on UMass at the Mullins Center, the Fordham swimming & diving team was also at Massachusetts on Saturday at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool. The Rams came away with a split in that match-up with the Minutemen, as the women won 171-124, while the men fell, 179-114.
The Rams took the top spot in 12 women's events and four on the men's side, while having four multiple event winners.
Kalena Laurent earned victories in the 200- (1:55.53) and 500-yard (5:08.56) freestyle, while
Morgan Fairclough captured both backstroke events in 58.33 seconds (100-yard) and 2:09.16 (200-yard).
Shannon Lulley won the 50-yard freestyle (24.19) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.96) with
Steve Sholdra taking home the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.50) and 500-yard freestyle (4:36.69).
Other women's winners included
Anna Marshall in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.87),
Megan Polaha in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.20),
Chandler Lulley in the 100-yard freestyle (53.04), and
Marie Feneron in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.99).
Steve Sholdra On the men's side, the Fordham winners were
Liam Semple who took the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:40.04 with
Tommy Christensen taking home the 100-yard butterfly in 52.58 seconds.
In relay action, the women's 200 medley relay of Fairclough, Gabrielle Ceila, and the Lulley sisters won their event in 1:48.02, while the women's 200 freestyle relay of
Megan Gray,
Tara Brunner, and the Lulley sisters had the top time of 1:37.84.
The Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on Wednesday, February 3
rd, when the Rams host St. Francis Brooklyn at 6:00 PM.
