ResultsWith the winter weather front moving up the East Coast, the Fordham swimming & diving team made some adjustments to their schedule and hosted a tri-meet on Friday night against the Iona Gaels and the La Salle Explorers.

The Rams came up with three out of four wins, as the Fordham women topped Iona, 181-88, and La Salle, 189-98, while the men's squad defeated Iona, 182-105, while falling to La Salle, 188-106.

Fordham took first in 12 events in the women's competition, and three in the men's.

Senior
Steve Sholdra and junior
Megan Polaha led the way with three event wins each for the Rams. Sholdra captured the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:20.82), the 200-yard butterfly (1:51.18), and the 400-yard individual medley (4:04.29). Polaha picked up first place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.73), 100-yard butterfly (58.44), and the 400-yard individual medley (4:36.23).

Junior
Kalena Laurent also won multiple events for Fordham on Friday, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.82 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:04.84. Seven other Rams had first place finishes, as
Gabrielle Celia won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.11), followed by
Chandler Lulley in the 100-yard freestyle (53.33),
Theresa Goehring in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.14),
Marie Feneron in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.75), and
Wendy Espina-Esquivel in the three-meter dive (289.65).Â
Tara Brunner and
Shannon Lulley both tied for first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.79 seconds.
Junior Miguel MattoxÂ
The final two event wins were in the relays, as the 200 medley relay team of
Morgan Fairclough, Celia, S. Lulley, and C. Lulley won in 1:47.82, while S. Lulley,
Megan Gray, Fairclough, and C. Lulley won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:39.44.

Besides Sholdra on the men's side, freshman
Isiah Magsino had a pair of second place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (53.13) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:12.98), while junior
Miguel Mattox was second in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.23. Sophomores
Liam Semple and
Tommy Christensen also added second place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (4:46.77) and 100-yard butterfly (52.77), respectively with freshman
Colin Esterine-Reid took second in the one-meter dive with a score of 215.25 points.

The Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on Saturday, January 30
th, when the Rams travel to Amherst, Massachusetts for a 1:00 PM meet against the Minutemen.
