With the loss, Fordham falls to 22-29 overall, 13-10 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton improved to 15-38 on the year, 4-19 in the league.  The game marked the first time that Fordham has allowed over 20 runs since April 28, 2003, when Fordham lost at Rhode Island, 28-8.

For the second straight day, Dayton struck first, as the Flyers took advantage of a Fordham error in the bottom of the third.  Matt Coughlin started the frame with a ground ball to third that Ian Edmiston threw high, allowing Coughlin to reach second on the throwing error.  Sergio Plasencia then singled to right to score Coughlin for the 1-0 lead.  After another single and a sacrifice bunt, Zach Schira lifted a sacrifice fly to right for a 2-0 edge.

Fordham quickly tied the game at two in the fourth, as the Rams loaded the bases on three straight singles by Matthew Kozuch, Charles Galiano, and Edmiston.  Ryan McNally plated Fordham's first run with a sacrifice fly to center, while Jordan Gajdos connected on an RBI-single to left to knot the game at two.

Dayton regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth, getting two-run singles by Plasencia and A.J. Ryan to make it a 6-2 game.

The Rams cut the deficit in half in the fifth, when Galiano connected on a two-run home run to left, his team-leading ninth of the season, making it, 6-4.
