After fighting off multiple snowstorms, rain, and cold temperatures this week, the Fordham baseball team was finally welcomed with sunny skies on Sunday, as they hit the field for a doubleheader at Stony Brook's Joe Nathan Field.

The Rams would earn a split of the doubleheader, dropping game one, 6-1, while winning the nightcap, 9-6.

In game one, Fordham struck first in the top of the third inning.Â
Ryan McNally connected on a two-out triple, and then scored on an RBI-single by
Mark Donadio, which extended his hit career-long hit streak to nine games.

The Seawolves quickly responded with three runs in the bottom of the third and one in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. Stony Brook got a two-run single from Chavarria and an RBI-single by Peragine in the third, while Handley drove in the run in the fourth.

Stony Brook added two insurance runs in the eighth to earn the 6-1 win.

Fordham managed six hits in game one, led by Donadio going 1-for-4 with an RBI, while
Joseph Runco was 1-for-4 with a double and a stolen base. McNally finished 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. On the mound,
Brett Kennedy (0-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts over four innings of work, while
Kirk Haynes, Jr. pitched the final four innings, giving up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts.

In game two, Fordham scored twice in the first inning to take the initial lead, while the Seawolves scored two in the second to tie the game. The Rams loaded the bases in the first and got a two-run single from
Ian Edmiston, scoring Runco and
Matthew Kozuch . The Seawolves got their two runs on a two-run single by Parenty.

The Rams answered right back with a three-run third to regain the lead at 5-2. Runco led off with a double, while Kozuch drew his second walk of the game. After a sacrifice bunt by
Ryan Mahoney,
Charles Galiano singled home Runco with Kozuch taking third. Edmiston then laid down the safety squeeze bunt to score Kozuch from third with Galiano taking second. Galiano later scored on an error.
Greg Weissert threw 4.2 innings of two-hit relief on Sunday
to earn his first win of the season.Â
Stony Brook got a run in the bottom of the third, but Fordham got that right back in the fifth, as Galiano singled with one out and scored on a double by Edmiston.

Fordham then tacked on two runs in the seventh and one in the ninth to extend the lead to 9-3. In the seventh, Fordham got RBI-singles from both Galiano and Edmiston, while Mahoney picked up an RBI-double in the ninth.

Stony Brook would score three runs in the ninth, but it was not enough, as Fordham held on for the 9-6 win.

For Fordham, Edmiston finished the day 3-for-4 with a double and a career-high five RBI, with Galiano going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI. Kozuch reached base four times in the game on two hits and two walks and scored four runs with Runco going 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, and two runs scored.

On the mound,
Greg Weissert (1-1) earned the win, throwing 4.2 innings of two-hit relief with five strikeouts. Starter
Jimmy Murphy went the first 3.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Tuesday, March 10
th, when the Rams are scheduled to host Manhattan at 3:30 PM.
