Women's Basketball Announces the Signing of Anna Kelly

Future Ram is the First to Sign From the Class of 2020

BRONX, N.Y. -- The Fordham women's basketball program will welcome Anna Kelly to the team starting next season, as she signed her National Letter of Intent, it was announced Friday by head coach Stephanie Gaitley.

"Anna is a great addition to our backcourt," Gaitley said. "She will add quickness and scoring ability to our backcourt. She's tough and she's a winner both on and off the court."

Kelly, who hails from Lexington, Mass., is slated to begin her senior season at Lexington High School. The 5-6 guard has already led the Minutemen to the state tournament twice while already tallying over 1,000 career points. As a sophomore, Kelly led the state in points per game.

She is a three-time Middlesex League All-Star Team selection and was named the D1 Middlesex League MVP after her sophomore and junior seasons. Kelly, who was a captain last season and will be this year, is the current third-place record holder for single-game points in the state. She was also the MVP of the Disney KSA Holiday Tournament.

Kelly also attended the 2013 USA Basketball Women's U16 World Championship Team Trials and the 2014 USA Basketball Women's U17 World Championship Team Trials.

Strong academically, Kelly is already a two-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic pick, and she has been nominated for the Stanley K. Koplik Certificate of Mastery with Distinction, which recognizes high-academic achievement. Kelly tested at the 97th percentile in state MCAS English Literature standardized testing, was awarded the Certificate of Success by the American Association of French Professors Competitive Exam, and was selected to attend the MIAA/Sport in Society Bullying Prevention Institute, which is a prestigious program aimed to help aspire and empower young people to work for change.
