Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Downed at Dayton, 3-1

Nicol Natale Scores Long Goal for Fordham

Dayton's Ashley Campbell scored twice, while Nicole Waters had three assists, as the Dayton Flyers topped the Fordham Rams, 3-1, in women's soccer action at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 10-5-0 overall, 4-2-0 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton improved to 6-9-0 on the year, 4-2-0 in the conference.

Dayton wasted little time getting on the scoreboard in the third minute.  Nicole Waters send a long pass ahead past the Fordham defense to Ashley Campbell, who scored on a chip shot over Megan Fitzgerald, who came out to challenge the play.

The Flyers made it 2-0 in the 10th minute.  Waters found Campbell again, who then flicked the ball onto Alexis Kiehl.  Kiehl then beat Fitzgerald 1-on-1 for her fourth tally of the year.

The score remained that way until the 65th minute, when the Rams cut the deficit in half.  Carlie Wagner took a shot that deflected right to Nicol Natale, who pounced on the ball and scored her second goal of the season.

Fordham continued to press the offense, trying to final the equalizer, but Dayton sealed the win with a goal in the 87th minute, as Waters sent Campbell off on a breakaway, and she netted her second goal of the game and 11th of the season.

In goal, Fordham's Fitzgerald made four saves in the loss, while Dayton's Kaelyn Johns made three stops.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Thursday, October 22nd, as the Rams travel to George Washington for a 3:00 PM match.
