An early goal by Sofia Pavon proved to be the difference maker on Thursday afternoon, as the George Washington Colonials topped the Fordham Rams, 1-0, at GW Soccer Field in Washington, D.C.
With the loss, Fordham fell to 10-6-0 overall, 4-3-0 in the Atlantic 10, while George Washington improved to 12-4-0 on the year and remained undefeated in conference play at 7-0-0.
The only goal of the game came in the fourth minute of action, following a Fordham foul. Sofia Pavon lined up the free kick and found the top right corner of the net for her sixth goal of the season.
That ended up being the only shot of the game for George Washington, as the Rams locked down defensively.
Offensively however, Fordham was unable to find the equalizer, as Colonials' goalkeeper Miranda Horn made three saves for the shutout.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 25
th, when the Rams travel to Richmond to face the Spiders at 1:00 PM.
