BRONX, N.Y.- In each of the past two seasons, Fordham Women's Basketball Head Coach
Stephanie Gaitley has used a graduate student with one year of eligibility remaining to help the Rams add depth and experience. Fresh off Fordham's first Atlantic 10 title, Gaitley has announced that the Rams will add another such player for the 2014-15 campaign, as
Tiffany Ruffin (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet/Boston College) will join the team.
Â
"We are excited to have Tiff join our Fordham family," said Gaitley. "Her experience, toughness and knowledge of the game will be a great addition to our backcourt."Â
Â
Ruffin played at Boston College from 2010-2013, where she excelled as one of the Eagles' premiere ball distributors. As a junior in 2012-13, Ruffin played in 31 games for BC, making two starts and averaging two assists per tilt. Her assist numbers proved quite impressive in league play, racking up 43 helpers against ACC opponents.
Â
The Seabrook, N.H., native had her best year in maroon and gold as a sophomore, starting 26 of the 28 games in which she played. Ruffin averaged 5.6 points and a team-best 2.7 assists per game, shooting 37 percent from the floor.
Â
Ruffin contributed immediately as a freshman for the Eagles, turning in 2.6 points and 2.3 assists in just 14 minutes of action per game. Competing in 33 contests during her first collegiate campaign, Ruffin turned in two performances of at least five assists during the postseason, doing so against Yale and Saint Joseph's in the WNIT.
Â
Prior to her arrival at Chestnut Hill, Ruffin solidified her legacy as one of the top high school players in New Hampshire history under Coach Ed Beatie. She led Winnacunnet to four straight state championships and was named New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons.
Â
The daughter of Richard Ruffin and Tina Carter, Tiffany has three sisters and four brothers.Â
Ruffin will pursue a masters degree in media management at Rose Hill.
