Men’s Soccer Announces Recruiting Class for 2014 Season

Rams Add 18 New Players To Next Year’s Squad

Fordham men's soccer coach Jim McElderry announced the addition of 18 players for the 2014 season today, the most ever for an incoming men's soccer class.  The recruiting class features players from Germany, Norway, and South Korea, as well as from five different states in the U.S.
 
"I want to thank my assistant coach Gavin Wyse for his tireless work with this class. It is a big group with players from all different types of backgrounds. I am confident these student-athletes will make a difference both individually and collectively at Fordham," said McElderry.
 
Here is a listing of the 2014 recruiting class, as well as a breakdown for each player:
 
Aleksandar Mastilovic – Grad. Student – MF – 6-2/183 – Griesheim, Germany/International School of Management Univ.
 
Before Fordham: Attended the International School of Management, which is a University in Frankfurt, Germany… Played for multiple club teams including SV Darmstadt (2008-2010), FSV Frankfurt U23 (2010-13), and most recently for Club Sportif Grevenmacher in Luxembourg (2014)… Netted two goals in five league games for Grevenmacher and played in the Cup of Luxembourg quarterfinal, registering an assist… Played 32 games in Regionalliga Süd and Südwest for FSV Frankfurt… Promoted to the U19 Bundesliga in Germany as a part of SV Darmstadt in 2009… Registered 11 goals in 25 games in the U19 Bundesliga.
 
 
Andres Penfold – Senior – F – 6-0/175 – Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale (Monmouth)
 
Before Fordham: Played two seasons at Monmouth University from 2011-12… Appeared in 40 games over that span for the Hawks, netting four goals and two assists for 10 points… Played high school soccer at Scarsdale, where he was a three-year starter and team captain… Led team to the state finals as a senior en route to claiming All-League, All-County, and All-State recognition… Played for FC Westchester U18 Academy team for club play, earning Eastern Conference Top-11 honors.
 
 
Tomas Penfold – Junior – MF – 5-9/180 – Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale (Monmouth)
 
Before Fordham: Played two seasons at Monmouth University from 2012-13… Appeared in 32 games over that span for the Hawks, netting four goals and three assists for 11 points… Had one game-winning goal at Monmouth, which came against Villanova in overtime as a sophomore… Played high school soccer at Scarsdale, where was team captain… Led team to the state semifinals and was named First Team All-State… Ranked No. 60 in the ESPN Class of 2012 Top 150 Players… Played for FC Westchester U18 Academy team for club play… Invited to Youth National Team Market Training Center Camp.
 
 
Ole Sandnes – Sophomore – MF – 5-11/172 – Oslo, Norway/Wang Toppidrett (Oregon St.)
 
Before Fordham: Played one season at Oregon State University… Appeared in 12 games in 2013, making five starts… Finished second on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points… Invited to the National Society Collegiate Scholars by Oregon State… Played club soccer for four years for Vaalerenga in Oslo… Scored a hat trick in the Nike Cup Final in Norway… Played one season at Wang Toppidrett in Oslo under head coach Tor Ole Skullerud.
 
 
Chris Bazzini – Freshman – D/MF – 6-0/160 – Oakland, N.J./Don Bosco Prep)
 
Before Fordham: Varsity soccer player at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey… Team captain as a senior… Big North United Conference MVP… First Team All-League twice (2011 & 2013)… Named All-State (2012 & 2013) and All-County (2011 & 2013)… Played club soccer for TSF United from 2010-12… Helped team to a #1 ranking in the country in 2012… US Club Soccer National Champions… Won the MAPS, Potomac and New Jersey Cup Championships… Invited to U.S. National training twice (2011-12)… Team captain for the Real Madrid Select Program in Madrid, Spain.
 
 
Jordan Black – Freshman – GK – 6-0/180 – West Allenhurst, N.J./Ocean Township
 
Before Fordham: Graduate of Ocean Township High School in Ocean, New Jersey… Played club soccer for the Players Development Academy, where he helped the U18 team to a #2 overall national ranking… Won the USSDA U18 National Championship in 2014… Three-year USSDA player… Attended U.S. Soccer Market Training… Four-time Spartan Scholar… Class officer at Ocean Township... Member of the Newspaper Committee.
 
 
Emmett Clarke – Freshman – GK – 5-10/165 – Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich (Berkshire)
 
Before Fordham: Graduated from Greenwich High School and spent a year of prep school at Berkshire School… Team captain for Greenwich as a senior in 2012… Helped Berkshire win the New England Class A Soccer Championship and a #1 ranking in the United States… Played club for PSG U23 & U18… Helped both teams compete for the national championship in their respective age groups.
 
 
Scott Knuth – Freshman – MF/D – 5-10/160 – Milford, Conn./Notre Dame
 
Before Fordham: Played varsity soccer at Notre Dame High School… Played club soccer for USSDA programs BSC CT Academy (2013-14) as well as for South Central Academy… Received team leadership award for South Central… Member of the National and National Spanish Honor Societies… Milford Rotary Scholarship recipient… Peer counselor… Vice-president of the Interact Club… Son of former Fordham men's soccer player and Fordham Athletics Hall of Famer, Jeff Knuth.
 
 
Matthew Lewis – Freshman – D – 6-2/165 – Kansas City, Mo./Rockhurst
 
Before Fordham: Graduate of Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri… Played on the soccer and basketball teams there… Played club soccer for the U18 Sporting Kansas City USSDA team… Served as team captain… Kevin Gray Award finalist… Member of the honor roll.
 
 
Jannik Loebe – Freshman – MF/F – 5-11/163 – Kierspe, Germany/Engelberth Von Berg
 
Before Fordham: Graduate of Engelberth Von Berg Gymnasium… Played club soccer for Wuppertaller SV.
 
 
Kyle Losi – Freshman – D – 5-11/160 – Wallingford, Conn./Sheehan
 
Before Fordham: Played varsity soccer at Sheehan High School… Named to the SCC All-Academic Team… Played club for Oakwood Soccer Club U18 of the USSDA… Helped team to a pair of playoff berths… CAPT Scholar.

Before Fordham: Varsity soccer and volleyball player at Gyeonggi Suwon International School (GSIS)… Team captain of the soccer squad… Registered a school record 120 goals… Two-time team MVP and four-time KAIAC All-Conference selection… Named to the KAIAC All-Tournament team twice… Played club soccer for the Suwon Bluewings U17… Helped his team to the Inter-Suwon Tournament championship… Scholar-Athlete Award and ACSI Award recipient.

Before Fordham: Varsity soccer player at Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, New Jersey… Served as team captain… Second Team All-State, as well as an All-County selection… Received the Coach's Award and team MVP… Played club soccer for the SDFC Gauchos… U15, U16, and U18 State Cup Champions… U17 U.S. Club Regional Champion.
 
 
Tetsu Tonegawa – Freshman – F/MF  – 5-10/160 – River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley
 
Before Fordham: Played two seasons of varsity soccer at Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale, New Jersey... Netted three goals and three assists as a freshman, while posting six goals and a team-high six assists as a sophomore… First Team All-League and Honorable Mention All-County selection in 2011… Played club soccer for Everton FC Westchester of the USSDA… Started 80% of all games for Everton and finished as his team's second leading scorer… Member of the Italian National Honor Society… Executive Council Member of the student government… Received the Most School Spirit Award at the Senior Awards ceremony.
