started with a single up the middle and moved to second on a walk to
Luke Stampfl. Joe DeVito followed with a base hit up the middle to score Lundy to make it 8-3. O'Connor was then hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Runco. However, Runco grounded out to second to end the rally.
Fordham loaded the bases again in the seventh as the Rams tried to get back into the game. Swatek started the inning by reaching on an error, and moved to second on a single by
Mark Donadio. Lundy was then hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out for
Jordan Gajdos. Gajdos would hit a sharp ball up the middle but Sweeney made a nice play to scoop the ball, tag second, and throw to first for the inning-ending double play.
Rutgers then capitalized for four runs in the bottom of the seventh and added one in the eighth for the final score of 13-3.
Greg Weissert (1-1) made the start for Fordham, allowing five earned runs on nine hits in two innings of work.
Shane McDonald gave up one run in one inning of relief, while
Makay Redd pitched four innings of relief, giving up three earned runs with three strikeouts.
Connor Fuller and
Jonathan Reich split the final inning on the mound.
At the plate, O'Connor was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored, while Galiano was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Wednesday, April 9
th, when the Rams host Army for a 7:00 PM start at Houlihan Park.
