As bad as the weather was on Saturday night, Sunday was picture perfect for Alumni Day at Houlihan Park.  On the field, J.C. Porter threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief to clinch a 5-3 Fordham win in the suspended game from last night, while UMass' Andrew Grant threw a complete game six-hitter, as the Minutemen took the series finale, 4-1.

With the split, Fordham is 19-23 on the year, 9-9 in the Atlantic 10, while UMass moved to 9-26 overall, 7-11 in the league.

The suspended game resumed just after noon with Porter getting out of 1st and 3rd jam with one out on a pair of fly ball to Jason Lundy in center field.

Fordham added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh, as Joseph Runco led off with a single to right and scored on a double by Tim Swatek.

That would be enough for Porter, as he shut down the UMass bats for the final two scoreless, registering his second save of the year.

At the plate, Runco was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Mark Donadio was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.  Brett Kennedy (4-6) earned the win, striking out a career-high nine batters over the first six innings, allowing only one earned run.

In the series final, UMass struck first in the second, as Dylan Begin doubled to left, and scored on a pair of groundouts.

Fordham responded with a run of their own in the second, as Matthew Kozuch and Matthew Cianci connected on back-to-back doubles to knot the game at one.

The score stayed that way until the sixth, when Begin singled home Nick Sanford for a 2-1 UMass lead.  UMass then added two more runs in the seventh to cap a 4-1 win.

Andrew Grant (2-1) went the distance for the Minutemen, tossing a complete game, six-hitter with nine strikeouts.  Tim Swatek (4-3) took the loss for Fordham, allowing four runs on 12 hits with 4 strikeouts over seven innings.  Cody Johnson pitched the final two innings without allowing a run.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Wednesday, April 30th, when the Rams host Manhattan College, beginning at 7:00 PM.
