reached base on a dropped third strike that was not caught by the UMass first baseman.  Rob McCunney was then hit by a pitch for the second time in the game to advance Galiano to second.  Judisky then hit a ground ball to third that the third baseman misplayed, allowing Galiano to score and tie the game at four.  After an infield single by Kozuch loaded the bases, Stampfl delivered again with an RBI-single to center, scoring McCunney.

UMass would tie the game at five in the top half of the eighth inning on an RBI-double by Walsh, scoring John Jennings from second.

Fordham would not be denied, scoring five times in the bottom of the frame to grab a 10-5 edge.  Donadio led off with a single through the right side and was sacrificed to second.  Tim Swatek then doubled just inside the left field line to plate Donadio with the go-ahead run.  The Rams would load the bases two batters later with Judisky being hit by a pitch to force in a run.  Stampfl capped the scoring with a bases clearing double down the left field line, giving him a season-high five RBI on the afternoon.

J.C. Porter (3-4) was able to close out the win for Fordham, as he threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.  Starter Kirk Haynes, Jr. went the first 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts, while Shane McDonald tossed the final 2/3 of an inning.

At the plate, Stampfl had his second career three-hit game, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI, while Swatek was 2-for-4 with an RBI-double and a run scored.  Kozuch and Joseph Runco also had multi-hit games for the Rams.

The same two teams will meet for game two on Saturday, beginning at 7:00 PM.
