Baseball Blanked by Marist

Galiano and Donadio Finish with Two Hits Each

Marist's Steve Laurino went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Sean Keenan threw five inning of three-hit ball, as the Red Foxes shut out the Fordham Rams, 9-0, at Houlihan Park on Tuesday.
 
With the loss, Fordham falls to 8-12 overall, while Marist improved to 6-14.
 
Marist took the lead in the second inning on a two-run double by Mark Swertfager, and then added two more runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Steve Laurino to lead 4-0.
 
After picking up single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, the Red Foxes capped the scoring with a three-run ninth to win the game 9-0.
 
Fordham could not muster much offense against Marist's pitching quartet of Sean Keenan, Chris Napolitano, Chris Thorsen, and Ryan Thomas.  The Red Foxes allowed just four hits, one walk, and one hit batsmen in the contest.  Keenan allowed three hits with five strikeouts over five innings, while Napolitano pitched two hitless innings of relief.  Thorsen gave up a single to Fordham's Mark Donadio in his one inning of work with Thomas tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
 
Donadio and Charles Galiano combined for all four hits for Fordham.  Donadio was 2-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base, while Galiano was 2-for-3 with a double.  Jason Lundy was the only other Ram to reach base, as he was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning.
 
Kirk Haynes, Jr. (0-2) took the loss for Fordham, allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts in four innings of work.
 
The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Friday, March 28th, when the Rams open a three-game Atlantic 10 series against Dayton, beginning at 3:30 PM.
