Orlando, Fla. (March 20, 2014) – The Fordham University women's tennis team had it second match on its spring trip to Florida on Thursday, falling to Florida Atlantic University, 5-2.
The Rams opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing both completed doubles matches. FAU's Natalia Tomaszewicz and Kandis Legall upended Fordham's
Sarah Ali and
Elliesa Ball, 8-4, at first doubles, while Catalina Ene and Lyndsey Boos defeated
Anika Novacek and
Destiny Grunin at the third position, 8-2.
In singles play, Ball and Ali picked up wins for the Rams with Ball handing FAU's Legall a 6-4, 6-0 loss at first singles and Ali needing a tiebreaker to defeat Stephanie Cardullo at the second spot, winning the first set, 6-3, dropping the second, 6-2, but then taking the tiebreaker, 10-8.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, March 26, as they travel to Teaneck, N.J., to take on Fairleigh Dickinson University at 12:00 p.m.
