NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fordham University freshman guard
Jon Severe was voted to the 2014 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in the league's annual postseason men's basketball awards it was announced on Tuesday.
Severe is closing out the most prolific offensive season for a Fordham freshman as his 509 points to date broke the former freshman scoring record of 504 points set by
Chris Gaston in 2009-10. On the year, Severe is averaging 17.6 ppg, second best on the team and third best in the Atlantic 10, along with 2.7 rpg. He also has 58 assists, second on the squad, along with 28 steals and six blocks. He leads the Rams and is third in the Atlantic 10 with 77 three-pointers made this season, the sixth best single season total in school history.
Among the NCAA Division I freshmen, Severe is fifth in scoring with his 17.6 ppg average.
