The Fordham women's soccer team honored its eight seniors on Sunday for their hard work and dedication to the program. Unfortunately, the Rams were unable to send them off with a win as George Mason scored 1:29 into overtime to take a 1-0 win at Jack Coffey Field.
With the loss, Fordham goes to 7-9-1 overall, 1-5-1 in the Atlantic 10, while George Mason improved to 4-10-2 on the year, 2-3-2 in the league.
A scoreless game through 90 minutes of action sent the Rams into their second consecutive overtime contest. However, Friday's overtime magic turned the other way on Sunday. George Mason's Niomi Seranno sent a pass ahead to Liz Hodges in the 92
nd minute, who fired from 15 yards out on the right side. The shot would go off the outstretched hands of Fordham goalkeeper
Ally White, with the momentum just getting the ball over the line for the game-winning tally. It was Hodges' fourth goal of the season.
The goal spoiled a great effort from White in her final home game, as she posted five saves in the match. The Patriots' goalkeeper Laura Glew ended up with four saves in the shutout.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, October 31
st, as they close out the regular season at St. Bonaventure, beginning at 6:00 PM.
