Women’s Soccer Plays Spoiler in Regular Season Finale

Clare Paoletta Nets 1st Two Career Goals in 2-1 win over the Bonnies

With St. Bonaventure still in the A-10 playoff mix, the Fordham women's soccer team played spoiler on Friday night.  Freshman Clare Paoletta scored her first two career goals in the final 25 minutes of regulation, while senior Ally White tied a career-high with ten saves in her last game to give the Rams a 2-1 win at the Marra Athletic Complex.

Fordham goalkeeper Ally White was sharp in the 1st half, making four saves, but a loose rebound led to the first goal of the game by St. Bonaventure. White made the initial stop on a shot by Brittany Charles, but the ball was then chested in on the rebound by Lauren Hill for her fifth goal of the season.

Freshman Clare Paoletta scored her first two career goals on Friday night.
In the second half, White continued to keep Fordham in the game, making three stops over a five-minute stretch with the last coming against Abby Maiello in the 61st minute to keep the score at 1-0.

The Rams would get the equalizer in the 69th minute, as Rachel Collage found Clare Paoletta for a shot that hit the goal post and went in for her first career goal.

Just 12 minutes later, Paoletta struck again to give Fordham a 2-1 lead.  She got the ball on the left of the net, dribbled the ball close to the St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Christina Sarokon, and just beat her on her left side.

White and the Fordham defense would hold up over the final nine minutes, as the Bonnies had only one shot on frame by Charles from 22 yards out in the 85th minute, that White handled easily for her tenth save of the game, tying her career-high.

The Rams finish the season with an 8-9-1 overall record, 2-5-1 in the Atlantic 10.  St. Bonaventure fell to 7-10-1 on the year with the loss, 2-5-0 in the league.
