Purchase, N.Y. (October 19, 2014) – Fordham men's basketball student worker Lauren Hutt has been taking part in the Making Strides of Westchester, NY, breast cancer walk with her mother, Cathy, a breast cancer survivor, for over 15 years. But the Hutts never experienced a walk like this year's when they were joined by the entire Fordham men's basketball team as a way to celebrate survivorship, express hope and share determination to make this breast cancer's last century.

Cathy Hutt, and a group of friends from her neighborhood in Brewster, decided years ago to participate in the annual breast cancer walk. But in February of 2011, the walk took on a different meaning for the Hutt family as Cathy was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery. She has been in remission since her surgery.

"To have the entire team join us this year was incredible," said Lauren Hutt. "My family really can't put into words what it means to have the support of the entire Fordham basketball family. We will be forever thankful for their support."

Despite having an "off day", the Rams were up early on Sunday to drive to Manhattanville College for the 9:30 a.m. start of the five-mile walk.

"I think the walk is a great way for the team to give something back to the community and show support for one of our own," said head coach Tom Pecora. "Lauren is such a special part of our office it was an honor for the team to be there for her and her mother."
