Saint Louis used a late first half goal and an early second half marker to post a 2-0 win over the Fordham Rams at Hermann Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
With the loss, Fordham fell to 6-7-1 on the year, 0-3-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis improved to 7-7-0 on the year, 2-2 in the league.
Both teams had early chances to get on the board, the first two coming from the Billikens. Livi Logan-Wood peppered a shot toward goal that
Ally White was able to stop, while Cristina Rodriguez's attempt in the ninth minute hit the crossbar.
Fordham had chances in the 10
th and 14
th minute off shots by
Kate McDonnell and
Jessica Widmann, but both were handled by Saint Louis goalkeeper Hanna Benben.
The score remained tied until the 45
th minute, just prior to halftime. Danielle Tolmais took a free kick about 10 yards from the top of the box on the left side. Her cross found the head of Maddy Bush, who was just able to angle the ball inside the left post for her first goal of the season.
Then, just after halftime, the Billikens made it a 2-0 game in the 48
th minute. Logan-Wood fed a pass to Rodriguez, who scored from eight yards out to the lower left corner.
The Rams desperately attempted to get on the board, but Benben made three second half saves to close out the clean sheet.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 19
th, when the Rams play at Dayton, beginning at 1:00 PM.
