Jon Severe was named Third Team Preseason All-Atlantic 10 at the conference's annual Media Day, held at Barclays Center on Tuesday. The awards and poll were chosen by a panel of the league's head coaches and media members.

Severe is coming off the most prolific season for a Fordham basketball freshman as he set the school freshman scoring record with 536 points, breaking Chris Gatson record of 504 set in 2009-10. He earned Met Rookie of the Year honors as he averaged 17.3 ppg, second best on the team and fourth best in the Atlantic 10, along with 2.8 rpg. Severe also had 63 assists, second on the squad, along with 29 steals and six blocks. He led the Rams and was third in the Atlantic 10 with 79Â three-pointers made this season, the fifth best single season total in school history. Severe also set a school mark by scoring 28 points in his collegiate debut, breaking the former record of 24 set by Trey Blue in 2008.

Among the NCAA Division I freshmen, Severe, who was also named to the 2014 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team, was fifth in scoring with his 17.3 ppg average.

The Rams open the season on Friday, November 14, as they host the New York Institute of Technology in the Rose Hill Gym at 8:00 PM.
