La Salle's Kelsey Haycook continued her run as the Atlantic 10's top scoring threat on Saturday, as she netted the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win by the Explorers over the Fordham Rams at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia.
The loss puts Fordham's record at 6-6-1 overall, 0-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle improved to 7-4-2 overall, 3-0 in the league.
The game was scoreless at halftime, with La Salle holding a 9-1 shot edge. Fordham goalkeeper
Ally White made two saves in the opening stanza with Jessica Wiggins making one for La Salle.
White made two more stops over the first 20 minutes of the second half, but the Explorers would solve White in the 67
th minute. Off a pass from Danielle Marx, Kelsey Haycook scored her league leading 11
th goal of the season on a header over White from the edge of the box.
Fordham had one chance on goal during the remainder of the game off the boot of
Jessica Widmann in the 71
st minute, but Wiggins handled the shot to post the shutout.
White finished the match with four saves for Fordham, while Wiggins had two for the Explorers.
The Fordham women's soccer squad will next be in action on Friday, October 17
th, when the Rams travel to Saint Louis for an 8:00 PM Atlantic 10 match.
