Recognizing the players who make significant contributions to the university community both on and off the court, Capital One and CoSIDA have named senior guard
Abigail Corning (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) to the First Team Academic All-District.
The honor places Corning on the final ballot for the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
Corning has been having a stellar year for the 17-4 Rams, averaging 13.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. She also ranks second on the squad in assists with just under five per outing and is third in conference with a 1.9 assist to turnover ratio.
Off the court, Corning holds an incredibly high standing in the university community. She serves as the president of the Fordham Student Athlete Advisory Council, in addition to chairing countless charitable endeavors both inside and outside the campus gates.
An excellent student, the marketing major from Wethersfield, Conn., has earned a 3.8 cumulative GPA over her Fordham career.
Corning is also a finalist for the Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Team.
Corning and the Rams will be back in action on Saturday, heading to St. Bonaventure for a 1 PM tip with the Bonnies.
