John Krasinski, former strength and conditioning coach at California, has been named assistant athletic director for athletic performance at Fordham University it was announced today by director of athletics Dave Roach.
Krasinski arrives at Fordham after owning and operating The Anvil Athletics, a gym specializing in sports performance training in Glendale, Arizona, since 2011. He provided professional coaching, scientifically designed workouts and expert guidance for athletes of all levels at The Anvil Athletics as well as nutrition planning, flexibility training, plyometrics and resistance training for improving athletic performance.
Krasinski has more than 20 years of major college experience in strength and conditioning and has trained over 100 players who have gone on to the National Football League including Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers, NFL All-Pros Alex Mack and Nnamdi Asomugha, and first round draft choices Jahvid Best, Marshawn Lynch, Cameron Jordan and Tyson Alualu.
From 2002 until 2010, Krasinski served as the head strength and conditioning coach at the University of California, where he oversaw all of the strength and conditioning for the Cal football program. While at Cal, the Golden Bears went to seven straight postseason bowls from 2003 until 2009.
In 2007, Krasinski was named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA), the highest honor given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession. He also was heavily involved in the design and development of the Student-Athlete High Performance Center that was constructed at the school in 2009.
Under Krasinski's tutelage at Cal, six Golden Bear football players earned Strength and Conditioning All-America honors. In addition to his work with the nationally-ranked Cal football team, he oversaw all of the strength and conditioning for Cal's field hockey, women's lacrosse, softball, gymnastics, and men's and women's soccer teams.
Prior to his time in Berkeley, Krasinski worked as the head strength and conditioning coach at Northern Arizona from 2000-02 and the assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Oregon from 1996-2000, helping the Ducks to three straight postseason bowls.
Krasinski also served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Colorado State (1993-96) and received his start at Rutgers University in 1991-92, as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Besides being a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach, Krasinski is also an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a CSCCa certified Collegiate Strength Coach as well as being certified as a Sports Performance Level 1 Coach by the USAW.
After playing football for one year at Rocky Mountain College, Krasinski transferred to Montana State where he graduated in 1990 with a degree in sports medicine and competed with the school's power-lifting team. He also earned a master's degree in exercise physiology from Oregon in 1998.
A native of Colstrip, Montana, Krasinski and his wife, Summer, have two sons: Johnhenry and Lincoln.
