BRONX, N.Y. -
Following a stellar 26-9 campaign that saw the Rams register their best record in over 30 years, Coach Stephanie Gaitley will headline her annual Chalk Talk, an event for coaches of all levels to discuss their craft.
The event will take place on Friday, June 21st, from 10 AM-2 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
Gaitley's Chalk Talk will feature talks from coaches in both the men's and women's game, as Fordham men's basketball head coach Tom Pecora and newly hired Hofstra coach Joe Mihalich will join Anthony Bozzella of Seton Hall for discussion on the game.
Together, these four coaches bring a wealth of experience to the table.
Gaitley, the 2013 Maggie Dixon Metropolitan Coach of the Year, just finished her 27th year at the helm of a Division I program, a season in which she captured her 500th career win and led a team to 20 or more victories for the 13th time.
Pecora, who led the Rams to a win over a nationally ranked team for the first time since 1978 in 2012, registered four 20 win seasons in nine years as the head man at Hofstra. Recently on the recruiting front, Pecora and his staff announced the signing of Jon Severe, the reigning Mr. Basketball in New York State who set a Federation record with 68 points in two games, including a 40 point performance in the semifinals.
Mahalic takes the reigns of Pecora's former program, Hoftsra, becoming the head coach of the Pride after 15 seasons on the bench for Niagara. In that time, Mahalic won 265 games, earned two berths in the NCAA Tournament and made three appearances in the NIT.
Bozella, who spent eleven seasons as the head women's basketball coach at Iona prior to accepting the job at Seton Hall, brings 21 years of head coaching experience to the Chalk Talk. In his tenure at Iona, Bozella's team reached the finals of the MAAC Tournament three times and was selected to play in the WNIT on four occasions.
Rounding out the Chalk Talk will be Stuart Singer, a sports psychologist and director of WellPerformance. Singer has lent his services to numerous college and professional teams over the course of more than a decade in the business, including the Washington Mystics and the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA.
Entrance to the Chalk Talk is free of charge and lunch will be served.
