BRONX, N.Y.- Erin Rooney (Christchurch, New Zealand/Marian/Monmouth) has been named the Atlantic 10's Co-Player of the Week following her team's 3-0 effort over the last seven days.
The award marks the second such honor for Rooney this campaign, as she took home A-10 Player of the Week following the Rams' first two games of the year. Â This week, she shared her award with Robyn Parks of VCU.
Rooney continued her stellar season last week, posting three outstanding performances against American, UNLV, and Cincinnati.Â
On Monday night against American, Rooney tallied her fourth double-double of the year while setting or tying two career highs. She scored what was then a career-best with 24 points and tied her career-high with 12 rebounds against the Eagles. She also tallied six assists that game.Â
In the opening contest of the Lady Rebel Round-Up on Saturday, Rooney dropped 20 points on 8-12 shooting from the floor, collecting seven rebounds and dishing out three assists in the process.Â
Her best performance of the week came in the championship game on Sunday against Cincinnati. The Christchurch, New Zealand, native netted a career-high 27 points and collected eight rebounds, helping the Rams win their first Thanksgiving tournament title in program history and taking home tournament MVP honors.
Â
On the week, Rooney averaged 23.7 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent from the floor and 46 percent from beyond the arc.
Â
On the season, Rooney is averaging 22.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She has scored no fewer than 19 points in a single contest, and has scored at least 20 in each of the last seven.
