Men's Soccer's Alex Naples Named A-10 Co-Player of the Week

Goalkeeper Earns First Weekly Accolade

Alex Naples

Fordham's graduate student goalkeeper Alex Naples (East Patchogue, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week on Monday, it was announced by the league.  It is the first career honor for Naples, as he shared it with George Mason's Jannik Eckenrode.

Naples posted back-to-back shutouts this weekend against Massachusetts and Rhode Island, helping Fordham secure its first two league wins of the year and vaulted the Rams into a tie for sixth place in the A-10 standings.

Naples made four key saves in each contest to improve his record to 5-7-1 on the year and lower his GAA to 1.03.  They were the third and fourth shutouts credited to Naples this season.

Naples and the rest of the men's soccer team are back in action on Sunday, November 3rd, as the Rams travel to VCU for an Atlantic 10 match-up, beginning at noon.
