Bronx, N.Y. (October 25, 2013) - One night after opening the season at Marist, the Fordham men's and women's swimming and diving teams were back in action, hosting Fairfield University in the Col. Frances B. Messmore Aquatics Center where the Rams swept the Stags with the Fordham women winning, 152-131, and the men outscoring the visitors, 160-121.

Each squad had three double events winners with Kalena Laurent, Megan Gray and Megan Gehrich winning two events for the women and Pat Militti,
Shintaro Noguchi and
Steve Sholdra taking home two wins for the men.

Laurent won the 1000 free in a time of 10:26.05 and came back later in the meet to take the 500 free in 5:08.12. Gray won both the 50 free, in 25.13, and 100 fly, in 58.38, while Gehrich won the 200 fly in 2:11.83 and the 200 IM in 2:12.30, beating teammate Spencer Chappell to the block by just 0.11 seconds.

Other winners for the Fordham women included Megan Zarriello, who won the 200 free in 1:56.70 while also placing second in the 200 back (2:11.81); Chandler Lulley, who won the 100 free in 54.65 and took second in the 100 back 1:00.42; Megan Polaha, who took first in the 200 back in 2:08.15 and was second in the 100 breast (1:09.24); Theresa Goehring, who won the 100 back in 59.85 and Anna Marshall, who was first in the 200 breast in 2:28.63.

Frances Warren took second in both the 500 (5:17.26) and 1000 free (10:48.33) for the Rams while Kelly Carroll was second in the 50 free (25.55) and 100 free (55.82). Also placing second for the Fordham women were Kara Field (200 free - 1:57.17), Aurelia O'Keefe (200 fly - 2:11.97) and Shannon Lulley (100 fly - 59.05).

In relay action, the women's 200 medley relay of Chandler Lulley, Polaha, Shannon Lulley and Carroll won the event in a time of 1:50.16 while the 200 free relay of Polaha, Chandler Lulley, Laurent and Shannon Lulley won the race in a time of 1:40.65.

For the men, Militti won the 100 and 200 fly in 51.77 and 1:55.64, respectively, while Noguchi was the first to touch in the 50 free, in 21.60, and 200 IM, in 1:55.78, and Sholdra was victorious in the 100 back, in 54.76, and 200 breast, in 2:12.45.

Other winners for the Fordham men included
Kevin Kosciuk, who won the 1000 free in 10:11.01 and placed second in both the 100 breast (1:04.09) and 200 breast (2:18.96); Nick Belfanti, who won the 200 free in 1:49.33;
Ben Dwyer, who was first in the 100 breast in 1:02.88;
Michael Grimmett-Norris, who won the 100 free in 48.92; Zach Jacobsen, who was the first to the pad in the 200 back in 1:59.70 and
Chris Indudhara, who won the 500 free in 4:58.08.

Peter Abrahamsen took second in both the 500 (4:59.63) and 1000 free (10:25.66) for the men while
Andrew Hendrickson was second in the 100 (56.24) and 200 back (2:00.76). Also placing second for the Rams were Nicholas Aleman in the 200 free (1:51.55),
Thomas Shetler, in the 50 free (21.67) and Kevin Cowell-Jimenez on the one-meter board (210.46).

In the men's 200 medley relay the team of Grimmett-Norris, Dwyer, Noguchi and Militti won in a time of 1:38.71 as did the 200 free relay of Shetler, Jacobsen, Joseph Mercurio and Militti in 1:27.43.

The Fordham men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to action on Saturday, November 2, as they travel to Boston to face Boston University at 1:30 p.m.
