Leading the way for the men's squad will be one of the seniors, guard Branden Frazier, a 2013 Third Team Preseason All-Atlantic 10 pick who will continue his ascension on Fordham's career scoring list. Last year, Frazier averaged 14. 2 ppg, second best on the team, and 3.7 rpg and led the Rams with 154 assists, 44 three-pointers made and 28 steals. Frazier, who averaged 12.7 ppg and 4.8 apg in Atlantic 10 play, shot 82.8% (135-163) from the free throw line and ranked third in the Atlantic 10 in assists, sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.6), ninth in free throw shooting percentage and 13th in scoring.

Over his three-year career, Frazier has netted 1,077 points, good for a tie for 26th on the Fordham all-time scoring list, and he has 141 three-pointers made, good for seventh on the school's career list. He also has 362 assists and 76 steals in 87 career games.

Frazier will be joined by three other returning starters: juniors Ryan Canty and Bryan Smith and sophomore Mandell Thomas. Thomas was third on the team last winter, averaging 9.8 ppg while Canty was second on the team in rebounding, pulling down 7.0 per game and Smith contributed 7.9 ppg and 3.3 rpg.

Other returning experienced players include sophomore big men Travion Leonard (6.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg) and Ryan Rhoomes (3.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg) and sophomore guard Jermaine Myers (3.6 ppg, 68 assists).

The Fordham women, who advanced to the 2013 Atlantic 10 championship game and appeared in the WNIT, are led by third-year head coach Stephanie Gaitley. She returns senior Erin Rooney and sophomore Samantha Clark, who were both recently named to the preseason All-Atlantic 10 team by College Sports Madness.

Both Rooney and Clark are coming off stellar years in 2012-2013.  Rooney, who was named to the preseason first team, finished second on the squad with 13.9 points per game, led the Rams in assists with just under four per outing and grabbed over five rebounds per contest.  In just her first season in the A-10, the Christchurch, New Zealand, native was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 -the first Ram to ever earn the honor- First Team All-Met and Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team.

Clark, a product of St. Rose High School who was named to the preseason third team, set a program record by winning A-10 Rookie of the Week honors five times in her freshman campaign.  The Neptune, N.J., native netted 8.4 points and pulled in 6.5 rebounds per game in her first season as a Ram, good enough for fourth and second on the team, respectively.

Also back for the women is senior Abigail Corning, who averaged 8.9 ppg and a team-high 7.1 rpg.

The teams open the 2013-2014 season with a doubleheader on Friday night, November 8, in the Rose Hill Gym as the women host the University of San Francisco at 6:00 p.m. followed by the men taking on Saint Francis (Pa.) University at 8:30 p.m.
