Columbia Sweeps Swimming & Diving Meet From Fordham

New York, N.Y. - (Nov. 24, 2008) - The Fordham swimming & diving teams were swept in their annual crosstown meet with Columbia University on Monday night, as the Fordham men lost by a score of 182-116, while the women fell 186.5-111.5.

Fordham now stands with a 3-2 record for the men and a 5-1 mark for the women.

In the meet, Fordham totaled nine events wins, led by Caitlin Napoli, Ryan Coombs and Billy Colton, who each won two events.

For the women, Napoli won the 200 freestyle in 1:52.41 and the 500 freestyle in 5:03.30, while Courtney Collyer won the 400 individual medley in 4:31.91. Andrea Krok rounded out the women's victories in the one-meter dive with a score of 244.73.

On the men's side, Ryan Coombs swept the butterfly events, taking the 50 in 23.44 seconds and the 100 in 52.14. Billy Colton did the same in the backstroke events, winning the 50 in 24.52 and the 100 in 52.30. Ben Otto had the final event win, taking the three-meter dive with a score of 286.73.

The Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on December 6th, as they compete in a dual meet with Boston College and Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
