Gillen was selected as the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship's Most Outstanding Player, helping Fordham to its fourth consecutive title.  She went 2-1 with a save, posting a 0.98 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 28.2 innings of work.  Her best individual performance of the championship came in a 12-inning affair against Dayton, where she threw a four-hit shutout of the Flyers with five strikeouts.  She followed with 10 strikeouts in an extra-inning win over Saint Joseph's and then a five-out save in the clinching game.
