Justine Stevenson was named assistant athletic trainer at Fordham in August of 2014 after serving as an assistant athletic trainer at St. Francis College in Brooklyn the previous year where she worked with the women’s basketball team. She will be responsible for the Fordham women’s basketball, cross country, track & field, and also assist with football.

A 2012 Cum Laude graduate of LIU-Brooklyn with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Athletic Training, Stevenson was recruited and played for Coach Stephanie Gaitley on the Blackbirds’ women’s basketball team. Following her playing days, she served as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2011-2012 campaign, assisting with day-to-day practice, equipment management, film exchange, recruiting, and team travel.

Stevenson served as the LIU-Brooklyn Athletic Training Club President from September 2011 until May, 2012.  She was awarded the LIU-Brooklyn Graduate Award for Clinical Excellence in 2012 and was a member of two Honor Societies, Alpha Eta Honor Society for the School of Health Professions as well as the Iota Tau Alpha (Beta Nu Chapter), Athletic Training Honor Society.

While attending LIU-Brooklyn, Stevenson also gained valuable athletic training experience with organizations such as the Blackbirds athletic department, Manhattan College Athletics, Wagner College, and One on One Physical Therapy Clinic (Brooklyn, NY).  She worked with Manhattan’s Division I Men’s Lacrosse team in 2012, managing daily training room activities, practice coverage and setup, and also handled various rehabilitations. She also worked with the football team at Wagner and assisted in athletic training duties for six different sports at LIU Brooklyn as a student.

The Jackson, New Jersey native holds a Board of Certification for Athletic Training as well as a CPR/AED certification for the Professional Rescuer.
