Felicia Kemp begins her first season as an assistant women's basketball coach at Fordham.
"I am pleased that Felicia has joined our staff. She brings to Fordham experience as a head and assistant coach on both the college and high school levels. Her knowledge, recruiting network in the Virginia area will be valuable as we continue to build our national footprint," said Andruzzi.
Kemp served as an assistant coach with the Howard University women's basketball team from 2004-08. She came to Howard from Morgan State University, where she served as interim head coach during the 2002-03 season.
Prior to that, Kemp served as the first assistant and recruiting coordinator at Morgan State from 1999-2003. The Bears' best season in that time came in the 1999-2000 campaign, where the team finished as the MEAC Regular Season runner-up.
Kemp also had stints at Peninsula Christian School, where she was the head coach during the 1996-97 season, and served as an assistant coach at Christopher Newport from 1995-99. While at Christopher Newport, the team earned four Dixie Conference Regular Season Championships, the 1998 Dixie Conference Tournament Championship, and made three NCAA appearances (1996-98).
Kemp played basketball at Christopher Newport from 1992-95, and led the 1993 and 1995 teams to NCAA Tournament appearances, as well as winning four Dixie Conference Regular Season Championships.
Beyond her work as an assistant coach and player, Kemp has worked with a number of basketball camps as an instructor, including those at the University of Richmond, the University of Virginia, and the WNBA. Kemp graduated from Christopher Newport in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in physical education.
