Joining Coach Volkert on the bench for the seventh straight year is Steve Hagenlocher.
Along with Volkert, Hagenlocher has helped Fordham become a contender in the Atlantic 10, as Fordham recorded 21 wins in 2006, tying the school mark set in 1990, and matched in 1991. The Rams also made their inaugural Atlantic 10 tournament appearance, while having four players receive All-Conference accolades.
Hagenlocher followed Volkert to Fordham after serving as his assistant at Manhattan College for three seasons. Prior to that, Hagenlocher spent six years as the head coach of St. Francis College (NY).
Hagenlocher is also a physical education teacher at William Bryant High School. He coached boy's varsity volleyball at Bryant High School and boy's varsity basketball at Aviation High School. He was named the Queens Volleyball Coach of the Year, after leading Bryant High School to the 2005 PSAL City Championship.
Hagenlocher retired after 20 years in the military. He did four years active duty in the US Marine Corps, seven years in the NY Air National Guard and nine years in the NY Army National Guard. His last assignment was three weeks at Ground Zero doing security.
Hagenlocher received his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from St Francis College '83 and his Masters degree also in Physical Education from Brooklyn College '91. Hagenlocher is married to his wife Nancy. They have three children Patrick, Daniel, and Krystle.
