Brittany VanderGroef, former assistant strength and conditioning coach at Iona College, was named assistant strength and conditioning coach at Fordham University in August 2022.
 
VanderGroef spent six months at Iona, serving as the interim head strength and conditioning coach for the Gaels from April through June of 2022. She was responsible for programming and coaching for women’s basketball, softball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, golf, and women’s soccer, along with men’s basketball. VanderGroef implemented return to play protocols and rehabilitation programs for injured athletes alongside the athletic training staff.
 
Prior to Iona, VanderGroef was a sports performance intern at Villanova University for the Fall 2021 semester, working with several of the Wildcats’ division I programs, including football, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, water polo, men’s lacrosse, and track and field.
 
Prior to Villanova, VanderGroef worked in a similar role at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she assisted with the softball, men’s basketball, and track & field programs. She also facilitated and oversaw the university’s weight room, working with student athletes in Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting movements and mobility.

A former student-athlete, VanderGroef played softball at Norwich University where she graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Health. After graduation, VanderGroef attended Merrimack College, earning a Master's degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning in May of 2021.

VanderGroef is a certified national strength and conditioning coach.
