Beginning his fifth season on the Rams' staff as an assistant coach is Andrew Byrne.

In his first year, Byrne worked alongside throwers Casey Metzler and Tiffany Hanna, setting new program records in the outdoor throwing events.  Metzler improved on her own school record in the hammer throw before Hanna broke that mark, as well as records in the shot put and discus throw.

During the 2022-23 season, Hanna set a new mark in the women's weight throw event.

The 2024-25 season saw plenty of success for the Rams, both as a team and individually.  The Fordham men won their first ever indoor track & field Metropolitan Championship title and followed that by winning the outdoor Metropolitan title for the fourth time.  At the Atlantic 10 Championship, the men's team finished fourth at the indoor track & field championship, the team's best finish since 2018, while tying for fifth at the outdoor championship, which was the best finish since 2019.  The women's team had an eighth place finish at the indoor championship, which was their best performance since 2011.

Among 13 school records set across the indoor and outdoor seasons, Michaela Gier set both the indoor and outdoor pole vault records with Michael Croke tying the outdoor pole vault record, while Tanicha Saintigene set a new women's indoor shot put mark.

Byrne is no stranger to Rose Hill, as he was a four-year member of the Fordham track & field team from 2016-20, competing in a variety of track and field events.  A two-year captain, he was a two-time bronze medalist at the Atlantic 10 Championship in the indoor heptathlon (2019) and outdoor decathlon (2019), a two-time Academic All-Conference selection (2019 – indoor & outdoor), and a four-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

In addition, Byrne was a three-year participant in the Fordham Leadership Academy, which focused on leading by example, relationship building, and verbal leadership strategies.

After graduating from Fordham, Byrne served as a track and cross country coach at his high school alma mater, Boston College High School, specializing in the jumping events.

In his first year back at Fordham, Byrne worked in the Fordham College Dean's Office as the Executive Secretary for the First-year, Sophomore, and Transfer Deans.  Byrne currently works in Fordham's Study Abroad Office as the Assistant Director for Partner and Exchange Programs.

Byrne earned his undergraduate degree at Fordham in American Studies and is pursuing his master's degree in Education Administration in Fordham's Graduate School of Education.  He is CPR, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid certified.
