Tom Newell is the newest addition to the Fordham women's soccer staff in 2026, serving as goalkeeper coach.

Newell is an experienced women's soccer coach with over ten years of coaching experience across ECNL Regional League, USYS National League, elite youth club, and Connecticut high school soccer.

For club soccer, he has been a part of AC Connecticut (2023-24), CFC Arsenal (2024-26), and most recently for CT Rush Select (2026). He led AC Connecticut 2010 Girls to a USYS League Championship, while with CFC Arsenal, he guided U12 Pre-ECNL and ECRL teams, preparing players for progression into ECNL competition.  With CT Rush Select, he was the girls director and ECNL RL head coach of the U12 and U15 teams, while providing strategic leadership for the Girls Select Program, overseeing player development and operational delivery for more than 300 players across 17 teams (U12-U19).

In Connecticut high school soccer, Newell coached at Staples High School (2021-22), helping the team to the 2021 CIAC LL State Championship and FCIAC Championship as a girls varsity assistant coach.  He then moved on to Bethel High School (2022-24), compiling a 22-5-5 record over two seasons as the girls varsity head coach and leading the team to the first CIAC Class L Semifinal appearance in program history.

Most recently, Newell was the girls varsity head coach at Fairfield Ludlowe High School from 2024-26.  In 2024, he was named FCIAC Coach of the Year after an 11-3-2 season and an FCIAC Semifinal appearance.

Newell is a 2015 graduate from University College Birmingham, holding a U.S. Soccer D License and an  UEFA C License.
