Jenny Sherman, former head coach at Sarah Lawrence College, was named assistant women’s rowing coach at Fordham in September of 2022.
Sherman served as the head coach at Sarah Lawrence in 2011-2012 where she directed assistant coach, planned and ran practices, and handle all recruiting duties.
Prior to her stay at Sarah Lawrence, Sherman was the head coach and co-founder of the Harlem River Community Rowing from 2007-2011. She organized and founded the community rowing non-profit organization and directed all coaching and led programming for adults and youth.
Sherman also founded the Way to Row program for at-risk youth at the Minneapolis Rowing Club where she served from 2022-2011, and has coached at Horace Mann High School and the West Side YMCA.
Sherman learned to row in 2001 on the Mississippi River at the Minneapolis Rowing Club (MRC). She started coaching the following year and taught people at the juniors, novice, masters, and collegiate levels how to row.
A graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, Sherman was a competitive rower with her top finish coming at the 2005 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta where she and her partner placed third in the women’s lightweight double.
