Mike Galanka begins his twenty-seventh year with the Fordham track & field program in the 2014-15 season. The former high school coach and Rams' football assistant has guided the field events squad to numerous victories at the indoor and outdoor CTC Championships, as well as at the Atlantic 10 and Metropolitan Championships.Under his direction, school records in the high jump, triple jump and weight throw for both indoor and outdoor seasons have been broken consistently.

In 1996-97, Galanka coached Barry Cantrell to high jump titles at the Indoor and Outdoor Metropolitan Championships, Indoor and Outdoor Atlantic 10 Championships, and Indoor IC4A's. Cantrell went on to earn All-America honors at the 1998 NCAA Indoor Championship. In 1995-96, Galanka coached Cantrell to titles at the Indoor and Outdoor Metropolitans, Indoor and Outdoor Atlantic 10's, and Indoor and Outdoor IC4A's, attaining school records during both seasons.

A noted decathlon expert, he has also coached many individuals to decathlon gold medals at the Empire State Games. In 2006, Matt Spaccarelli placed third in the decathlon at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships, and then won the event at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Also under Galanka's guidance in 2007, Kerstin Greene was the 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Year. She set the school record and earned All-American honors in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championship in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In that competition, she set the NCAA record for a multi-event athlete in the high jump. Greene's stellar run continued in the outdoor season, where she won the heptathlon at the Atlantic 10 Championship, setting the school record and qualifying for the ECAC Championship.

Most recently, Galanka has coached Jeana Fletcher and Matt DiBuono to great heights. Fletcher won the pentathlon over 21 other competitors at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship, while DiBuono captured the Atlantic 10 title in the weight throw, setting the school record in that event.

Later in 2009, DiBuono became a three-time Atlantic 10 hammer throw champion in the outdoor season, while also earning his second straight Athlete of the Meet award at the Metropolitan Championships. Eventually setting the hammer throw record at over 214 feet, DiBuono received an at large berth in the hammer throw to the 2009 NCCA Outdoor Championship where he finished 14th.

Galanka was the 1996-97 recipient of Fordham's Jack Coffey Award for outstanding contributions to Fordham Athletics and received a special award from the IC4A Coaches Association prior to the Outdoor Championships in 2004 for 25 years of service to track and field.
