In his 38th season as a member of the Fordham coaching staff, Vince Forte has come to specialize in the middle distance events. Under Forte's instruction, the Fordham squad has consistently qualified for the IC4A and ECAC middle distance events.
For the 2019-20 campaign, the year began with a very successful cross country season, highlighted by the men winning the 2019 Metropolitan Championship, while finishing third at the Atlantic 10 Championship, the team's best-ever finish. Individually, Ryan Kutch and Nicholas Raefski were both All-Atlantic 10 performers with Kutch going on to qualify for the NCAA Championship. The Rams also had three Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selections for the 2019 season (Colin Flood, Alexandra Thomas, John McGovern). For the indoor season, Kathryn Kelly had an outstanding campaign, breaking the women's indoor 60 and 200 meter school records, while earning a bronze medal at the Atlantic 10 Championship in the long jump. Raefski also added to award total, capturing the 5,000 meter title at the Atlantic 10 Championship for First Team All-Conference honors, while Antony Misko (500m) was a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 performer. Jeremiah LaDuca (800m), Christopher Strzelinski (1,000m), and Nikolas Reardon (high jump) added to the medal count with bronze medals.
During the 2017-18 season, the outdoor women's 4x100 and 4x200 set school records and the men's 4x800 relay were Metropolitan Champions with Antony Misko named the Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer at the indoor championship, while in 2018-19, 11 records fell over the course of the season.
During the 2017 season, the men's 4x800 and women's 4x400 relays were Metropolitan Champions.
In 2016, freshman Sean Phillips was selected as the Atlantic 10's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer for indoor track after winning the 1,000 meters, while the women's indoor 4x800 relay captured their event for First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.
In 2015, both Lester Taylor (outdoor 800m) and Titi Fagade (indoor 500) both received All-Atlantic 10 accolades, while the women's 4x800 relay won the indoor event at the Atlantic 10 Championship in conference record time.
From 2010 through 2013, Sean Atkinson earned All-Atlantic 10 honors in each indoor track season, while doing it three times during the outdoor season.
In 2008-09, Melissa Salerno earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in both the 800m and 1500m at the outdoor championship while the men's 4x800 relay took Second Team All-Conference accolades during the indoor season.
In 2007-08, Salerno took home Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 1000m while in 2006-07, the men's indoor 4x800 relay won the Atlantic 10 title.
At the 1995-96 Block "F" Awards Dinner, Forte was honored with the Jack Coffey Award for his dedication and service to Fordham athletics.
He was also inducted into the Fordham Hall of Fame in 1999. While an athlete at Fordham from 1977-81, he served as a team captain and set the school record for the 500 meter and 600 yard runs. In the spring of 2002, Forte received the Hughes Award from Fordham University in recognition of his 20+ years of service to the university.
