Steve Sholdra, a multiple-time Atlantic 10 champion at Rose Hill, joins the Fordham swimming & diving coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach in 2019-20.
Sholdra had an amazing four-year career at Fordham from 2012-16, where he was a four-time Atlantic 10 champion winning the 1650 freestyle (2013), the 400 IM (2015 & 2016), and 200 butterfly (2016) at the conference championship. At the time of graduation, he held the school records in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle events, as well as the 200 butterfly, 400 IM, and 800 freestyle relay. He also set Atlantic 10 championship records in the 1650 freestyle (2013) and the 200 butterfly (2016) and was a three-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 selection. Following his senior season, Sholdra was selected as the Vincent T. Lombardi Award winner, as the Fordham Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
In addition to his Fordham career, he was a multiple-time participant at USA Swimming Open Water Nationals.
After graduation in 2016 with a degree in International Political Economy and Middle Eastern Studies, Sholdra was the recipient of the NCAA and Atlantic 10 Postgraduate scholarships to continue his education. He currently works at Columbia University as the Columbia College Assistant Director of HR, and is working toward his Master's Degree in Instructional Media and Technology at Columbia as well.
