Will look to break into the linebacking rotation in 2011... gained valuable experience last fall, appearing in nine games... saw action in six varsity games as a freshman and two as a sophomore... also appeared with the junior varsity program in 2008 and 2009... named to the 2010 Patriot League Honor Roll.

2010: Appeared in nine games as a junior, starting one... recorded 18 total tackles, 12 solo, on the year... made five solo stops in the win over Rhode Island... also had five tackles, two solo, at Lehigh... registered two solo tackles against Assumption and at Holy Cross... also had two stops, one solo, in the Liberty Cup win over Columbia.

2009: Appeared in two games as a sophomore in 2009 (Rhode Island and Columbia)... also appeared with the junior varsity.

2008: Appeared in six games as a freshman... recorded one assisted tackle in the Marist game... also appeared with the junior varsity program... made three tackles, two solo, in a junior varsity win over Columbia.

Before Fordham: A graduate of L.V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas, where he lettered with the football squad... a Second Team All-District selection in 2006 and 2007... a 2007 First Team All-City pick... served as a 2007 team captain... recorded 134 tackles with two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and eight tackles for loss as a senior... an Academic All-District honoree for three straight years... joins L.V. Berkner teammate Andy Okonkwo at Fordham.

Personal: Born October 8, 1989... son of Andrea and Jock Payten... has an older sister (Ashley)... majoring in Finance.
