Keith Comeforo, a former assistant football coach at Wagner College, begins his second season on head coach Tom Masella's staff. He will responsible for the Rams' defensive backs in 2009.
Last year, Comeforo guided the Fordham defensive backs, a squad that helped the Fordham defense lead the Patriot League in passing defense and rank second in total defense.
Comeforo, who is currently a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Thompson Middle School in Middletown, N.J., served as an assistant coach at Wagner College from 1998 until 2001, his second stint at the Staten Island school. He also coached the Seahawks, a team which included Fordham head coach Tom Masella, from 1978-80, his first collegiate coaching position.
After his first stint at Wagner, Comeforo moved on to an assistant coaching position at Lafayette College from 1981-84. He then moved into the high school ranks, assuming the head coaching position at Middletown South High School from 1985 though 1987. He led the Eagles to their first ever Shore Conference championship in 1986.
From 1987 through 1993, Comeforo was employed as a Sales Training and Development Account Manager with Nike, Inc., before returning to Middletown South as the head football coach in 1994, guiding the Eagles to the 1995 New Jersey State title.
In 1998, Comeforo returned to the collegiate game at Wagner and also returned to teaching, serving as a Health and Physical Education teacher at Thompson Middle School in Middletown from 1998-2005. In October of 2005, he was named the Interim Athletic Director for the district and in January of 2006, he served as an Acting Assistant Principal at Middletown High School North.
Comeforo earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Winona (Minn.) State. He also earned his Master's Degree in Education from the City University of New York.
