Other than updates via Twitter, the Fordham Sports homepage has provided no updates or photos (that I have seen) regarding the progress of the Gym renovations. I would think that it should be highlighted on the Sports homepage.
Â
The floors of the Rose Hill Gym are currently being refinished. As soon as that project is complete, a story will appear on Fordhamsports.com highlighting the changes.
Thanks for your question and Go Rams!

What is the reasoning for the Football 'Homecoming Game' to be in November --- compared to a game in September when the weather is much better & the days longer ?
Where do you rank Jack Coffey Field among Patriot League football fields ? There is no reason we should accept having the worst field in the league. Has a discussion ever taken place to make Jack Coffey Field a "Football/Soccer facility" only ? Can you think of any other Division 1 football teams that play their games on a baseball field like Fordham does ? ( quite the eyesore when watching in person or on TV ).
Why isn't the fundraising "Vision" for Fordham Athletics more noticeable on the athletics website, mailings, etc. I think the athletic department needs to make it more clear to fans/alumni of how much money is needed & what the goals are for the athletic department to improve facilities, etc. I think people would be much more eager to donate if someone laid out a better "Vision" of what the university is hoping to improve & what specifically the donated money will be used for.
Thanks for your time. Go Rams !!
Thank you for your questions. You have covered many different topics. I'm happy to answer and address your concerns.
Homecoming is a combined effort between Athletics and the Alumni office. This year, due to some scheduling conflicts and because 6 of our first 8 games are on the road, the Holy Cross game was selected for Homecoming.
As you are aware we do not have an abundance of field space nor any extra acreage that we could expand our facilities for practice and competition. Coffey Field provides practice and game space for football, soccer (M&W) and baseball. It would be nice to have separate fields for each sport but we just do not have space. While there are some nice stadiums in the Patriot League, we have consistently had some of the larger crowds in the League over the last 5 years. Â
In regards to fundraising Ed Kull, Director of Athletics Development/Sr. Associate Athletic Director, joined the Development Office on May 1st. You will now see a more focused and coordinated effort in athletic development.

Has Fordham Athletics ever considered adding a Div 1 Men's and Women's fencing team to their roster? New York City is the hub of fencing, and there is a large amount of talented fencers who would love to train here. Currently, St. John's University and Columbia University are the only NYC Div 1 teams in fencing, and they are incredibly successful (both have won the NCAA national championship titles in the recent past). A lot of fencers wanting to train in NYC either have to choose between those two schools, go on to a lower division, or relocate somewhere else.
A fencing salle doesn't require more than a handful of strips, and successful NCAA fencers in NYC have training at fencing clubs around the city built into their regime along with scheduled university team practices. Fordham has the potential to become the next fencing Olympic-powerhouse, and it would be a shame if Fordham didn't at least consider the possibility.
Thanks for taking the time to read this about this serious matter. Fencing would be an excellent addition to Fordham's high-achieving student-athlete population.
Â
Thank you for your question regarding fencing. Â Given our resources and facility constraints we have no plans to add any varsity teams to our intercollegiate program.Â

What's happened to Prokop Slanina. He seemed to be getting better and all of a sudden he's not even playing without a mention as to why in the reports.
Â
While I cannot mention specific injuries, he will be sidelined for awhile due to injury suffered in the La Salle game. Â Hope you enjoyed the win at URI. Â Go Rams!

Is there a capital campaign on for athletics? I have been solicited to contribute to a $5 million effort for basketball and football. I want to be sure it's legitimate. I haven't heard anything official from the University.
We are in the process of raising funds for two much needed projects. Rose Hill Gym - new floor, replace lower area seating and add hospitality suite to the upper level. Football - new offices and meeting space. Thank you for your support.

Is it true that Ramtown has been canceled?
After a review of RamTown we decided to utilize the funds spent on that event to do additional game day promotions for men's and women's basketball to increase student attendance.

I attended the Home Opener on Saturday and was surprised (stunned) to see the increase in parking fees to $15 for the garage and $30 for the "tailgating" lot. What is the rationale behind these increases? As I attend all of the home football games and many men's/women's basketball games this could get pricey, as well as an annoyance to alumni fans who also get solicited for donations to the school too.
I enjoyed the win over ECSU last week! I really enjoy coming back to Fordham, but why has the price for Lot A ($30), FAR exceed the most expensive ticket to the game?
Thank you for attending our football home opener. Due to issues last year with tailgating we had to increase the number of Public Safety staff working on parking and tailgating at football games. In addition we now provide portable toilets in parking Lot A. The increase in fees will cover the cost of these additional expenses. Hope to see you at future games.Â
