Any plans on adding a mens lacrosse program? Coming from Colgate where it seems that the athletics program covers all sports, why no lacrosse program at Fordham? Seems like a recruiting hotbed area. Is it Title IX related?

Your question comes up many times.  Lacrosse is a terrific sport for men and women.  Given our limited field space and the cost of operating D1 lacrosse programs for women and men we are not looking to add lacrosse to the 22 sports we currently offer.  Go Rams!

Can we better make use of our beloved Ram mascot?
Can the one in the costume be given a name? Maybe a 'Name The Ram contest', so the Ram actually has an identity? It seems odd that it does not have a name and if so, I am certain the students and fans, especially young fans would appreciate it?
Could there be a live ram lead the football team out on to the field at home/local games?
I have witnessed Cam The Ram at Colorado St. lead the team out to the field and it gets everyone going and think it could be a nice new tradition at Fordham. The live ram could reside at a farm or at The Bronx Zoo. Maybe even create an exhibit about ?????, The Fordham the Ram?
It just seems to me that a school so rich in history and tradition lacks the connection with our own school mascot. There is great potential in what both the real and the 'not so real' mascot could be doing to entertain the crowds at games. What can be done?

Currently the mascot is unofficially called RAM.  We will have a discussion this summer with our staff to see how we can increase the utilization and exposure of our mascot.  In regards to a live ram there are just to many issues to make having one on a permanent basis.  Go Rams!

There seems to be improvements to getting better Fordham logoed merchandise, which is much appreciated. However, most of the teams in our conference seem to offer much more options. How can we continue to improve offerings?

Also, is it possible to have the Atlantic 10 logo added to the apparel/merchandise? We play in a high profile conference but yet we do not openly promote it on merchandise. I realize there may be licensing and permission to do so, but I would imagine the Atlantic 10 would be supportive as it only promotes the conference. Same goes for the Patriot League on football merchandise. Can the conference logos be added to apparel/merchandise on secondary locations?

I have discussed your suggestions with our on line apparel provider and they will look into more merchandise offerings and will make the A10 and PL logos available. Thanks for your interest in Fordham athletics.

First off, nice job w/ the hiring of Neubauer. He appears to be a perfect fit for Fordham.
My question has to do with increasing fan attendance for both the men's basketball and football events.
Have we ever considered approaching our top notch communications school/department for help in driving attendance numbers?
Maybe they could offer a class in Sports Marketing that utilize social media and other media tools. A major project of the class would be to plan and implement a student marketing/PR strategy and track results.
Maybe keep the marketing/tracking would be focused on current students at first? If successful, the class could expand the project to drive alumni attendance.
We have some smart students out there and a fantastic communications school (just look at the alumni). I think it makes sense to at least approach them for help in driving up attendance numbers. I think the offering of a class on this topic would be very constructive and relevant to a communications major.
Thanks!

Thank you for your suggestions in regards to increasing fan attendance at our athletic events.  We hope to soon have results from a student survey that was part of a class project and presentation.  From this survey we hope to come up with innovative ways to connect with our students and fans.  I hope to see you at many games this year. Go Rams!

Just wanted to take a minute to congratulate you on the hire. Coach Nuebauer is an outstanding choice and one that this Fordham alum is excited and proud of. I have full confidence Coach Nuebauer will be the one to turn it around and thrive. Thank you for the outlet. Today is an exciting new start for our mens basketball future!! Great job and All the best. Go Rams!!

Thank you for your note and kind words.  I agree wholeheartedly with your statement and very much look forward to working with Coach Neubauer.  Its an exciting time for Fordham and men's basketball.Go Rams!

In this hopefully short period between tenures of the men's basketball coaches, where do you see the program being five years hence?

We have hired Parker Executive Search to assist in the process of hiring our next coach so I do hope that the period between head coaches is short.  As I look towards the future, given our commitment to MBB, I do see us being successful in the A10.  Go Rams!

I took my family to the St. Joes game at Rose Hill last weekend and it was great to see the Rams get the win. I arrived 30mins before the game however didn't get into the gym until the 13min mark in the first half. As a D1 program playing in the A10, I would expect more than one person with a computer and one with a cash register at the ticket desk? This is the set-up I would expect for a Prep game not a Sunday afternoon A10 game on a long weekend. Are there any plans to be more efficient and professional in appearance in the ticket purchasing process? Additionally, since I missed a portion of the first half I chose to wait to take my children to the bookstore until after the game only to have it be closed prior to the game ending? I understand that the bookstore might be managed by a third party but seems like someone is dropping the ball when fans aren't even given the ability to buy team gear/souvenirs after the game. I even heard one disappointed person say "it's the Fordham way" when they were told the bookstore was closed. Enough of the status quo that has gotten us nowhere the past 20 years, please help to change the culture! Hope the Rams can keep winning! Go Rams!

Thank you for attending our MBB games vs. SJU.  I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced.  We do hold the student section till a few minutes prior to tip-off  which was part of the problem in getting the crowd seated. Our ticket Manager left in January and we will be hiring a new manager this spring.  We are currently looking at the entire operation to serve our fans more efficiently. I'm not sure why the bookstore was not open after the game.  I will check on that.  Thanks again for your support.  Go Rams!

Links to Bleacher Report articles by Charles Costello have been featured on the Athletic Department social media sites. There's been a lot of negative fan reaction to these articles. Who is responsible for giving this particular writer such high visibility?

Thank you for your question and interest in Fordham athletics. Bleacher report does post many articles about Fordham athletics on their site.  We are no longer automatically posting articles from any source on our social media sites.  Go Rams!

February 9, 2015
The athletic department's Facebook and Twitter pages recently posted two Bleacher Report articles, and the posts were later deleted along with all comments about the posts. Did the athletic department review these articles prior to posting them, and why were the posts deleted?

We now review for approval all articles as opposed to automatically posting on our social media pages.  Go Rams!

The Fordham Community is excited about the Football program. Can you restate our commitment to FBS matchups - given the interest they generate?

I share your excitement for our football program.  Coach Moorhead and his staff have done a tremendous job with our program.  We are finishing up another great recruiting class. We are committed to playing one FBS school per season. We have Army, Navy and Army coming up in the next three seasons.  We are talking with BC, Hawaii, Charlotte  and some American Athletic Conference schools about dates starting in 2018 and beyond.  Go Rams!

I have been a men's basketball season ticket holder since I graduated from Fordham in 2012. What are the realistic goals for the men's basketball program in relation to the A-10? Is the ultimate goal become competitive in the A-10, or is it to move the program to a different league?

I'm pleased to hear that you are a season ticket holder for men's basketball.  The goal for MBB is to win the A10.  We have no intention of moving to another conference.
I hope to see you at the next home game game on the 22nd.  Go Rams!

First, I want to cheer Fordham's recent success in Football, Women's Basketball and Soccer, as too often we focus on losses and not wins. My question specifically; will the football schedule include a Yankee Stadium date in the near future. We need to leverage the success of our most storied sport ...

We are in the process of working out the details to play a football game in Yankee Stadium in 2016.  We should have an official announcement soon. Go Rams!

Coach moorhead recently interviewed at the University at Buffalo. Last year he was extended at Fordham to 2021. Is this just a one way extension?

Thank you for your question.  Coach Moorhead's contract was extended last year at this time through 2021.  Without going into specific details I would say in general there are provisions in most coaching contracts that work both ways.

Best wishes for a great Holiday season.  Go Rams!

I am a season ticket holder in both football and basketball. And have been attending Fordham games since freshman year 1966. What are you going to do to address the basketball program. It has been five years and there has been absolutely no improvement.

Thank you for your question and support of football and basketball.  I thoroughly review all of our programs at the conclusion of every season.  Go Rams!

What's happening with/happened to John Severe, last season's second highest scorer? He's disappeared from the offense. Thanks.

Thank you for your question.  Jon Severe has taken a leave of absence from the team for personal reasons.

My son is a student at Fordham and I have been fan of the basketball program since Coach Pecora took over the coaching duties. It is my understanding that students are not made aware of the home games which would be a major plus if we could get more students to the games. I also witnessed the poor attendance at the A10 tournament at the Blarkley Center last year. Is anything being done to encourage more students to attend home games? Thank You

Thank you for your question.  I'm surprised that some students may not be aware of when are basketball games are being  played.  We place posters and other notices throughout the campus.   Game day fliers are also placed in dorms and all food areas.  Email blasts are sometimes sent to promote the game via student email accounts. We also use Facebook, twitter and texting to alert students and fans. All schedules and promotions are listed on our web site under basketball. We also do banners and life size posters of coaches and players that are placed in front of the McGinely MarketPlace.  Last year we offered free student tickets and a round trip metro card to the A10 tournament at Barclays. Unfortunately the A10 tournament coincided with spring break.  I hope to see you at games!  Go Rams!

The plans for Fordham athletics were last enumerated in the Strategic Plan, Toward 2016. Has that been updated? Do you believe that the current facilities and infrastructure are commensurate with Fordham's athletic plans and ambitions?

Thank you for your question. The strategic plan for 2016 has not been updated.  In intercollegiate athletics one needs to always be thinking about what can be improved upon. This past summer we replaced the Field Turf on Coffey Field and added chair back seats.  We also renovated and expanded our women's basketball offices.  We do plan on renovating some additional offices this summer.  Moving forward we need to significantly expanded our Strength and Conditioning space and create more team locker rooms.

Fordham, with 26 other schools, unsuccessfully attempted to override the Big 5 having autonomy in the NCAA. What was Fordham's reasoning behind this request especially in light of the other A-10 schools not joining in the effort? What was the A-10's reaction to Fordham's decision? What is Fordham's position on the proposed changes that will now be implemented including cost of attendence scholarships?

Thank you for your question. To be clear we are all for student-athlete welfare and will always put the student-athlete first. The override vote was not about student-athlete welfare or full cost of attendance. The vote was about Division 1 governance. We feel that we should have an equal voice on decisions in regards to D1 athletics. The A-10 is one of the top basketball conferences in the country and, as such, should have a voice in all NCAA legislation. I have not had any negative reaction from the A-10 to our decision to make a statement in voting for the override. We will review all legislative changes and do what is best for our student-athletes, our programs and Fordham.

Go Rams!

Why hasn't the Softball fallball schedule been posted as has been done in past years?

Thank you for your email in regards to the fall softball schedule.  The fall schedule will be posted soon on our web site.

As the away game at Villanova will not be televised or streamed would you consider arranging for a bus service from Fordham to Villanova for alums and fans, for a nominal fee, wishing to attend the game?

We are planning a student bus to the game but have not scheduled an alum/fan bus. The game will be televised regionally by the American Sports Network and broadcast on the Patriot League Network.

Can you please post photos of the completed Jack Coffey Field? I saw that the Women's Soccer tem played on it against Wagner. And why are you using a "Fordham" watermark on photos posted on the Gallery? Afraid of copyright issues? It defeats the purpose of having photo galleries.

Jack Coffey Field is not 100% finished yet. When it is, more photos will be posted (we'll try to get some of the nearly completed field posted today).
As for the watermark, that is something that is automatically generated by SideArm Sports for any photo in a photo gallery for copyright purposes. At this time we do not have the option to omit it.

Thanks for you questions. Go Rams!
