Newark, Del. – The Delaware Memorial Bridge that connects Delaware with New Jersey is one of the world's longest suspension bridges. The Fordham volleyball team felt like they endured one of the longest days of the season as the Rams split a pair of games at the 2026 Delaware Invitational, defeating New Haven, with two sets going to extra points, and falling to the host school, 3-2.

MATCH 1 – Fordham 3, New Haven 1
- Fordham opened Frida with a four-set win over New Haven, dropping the first set, 27-25, before coming back to win the next three, 25-22, 28-26, and 25-13.
- The Rams had a big day at the net with 22 team blocks and holding the Chargers to a .078 hitting percentage in the match. Sophia Kuyn led the way with six blocks while Sophie Oliveira added five.
- Fordham also recorded eleven service aces, led by five from Giada Ianuale.
- On the back row the Rams had 73 digs, which included a 23 from Özge Özaslan, who also led Fordham with 27 assists.
- Johanna Franzen led the Rams at the next, recording a team high 14 kills to go with eleven digs, while Bridget Woodruff notched ten kills.
MATCH 2 – Delaware 3, Fordham 2
- After losing the first set, 25-15, the Rams rallied took the next two, 25-17 and 25-16.
- But the Blue Hens came back to win the fourth set, 25-23, and the fifth, 15-12.
- Johanna Franzen led the Rams with a season-high 21 kills while Mila Micunovic finished with 12.
- Giada Ianuale dished out a season-high 42 assists and had a pair of service aces.
- Fordham had 24 blocks as a team, led by nine from Tatum Holderied and five by Bridget Woodruff.
The Rams are next in action on Tuesday, September 8
th as they host St. John's University in the Rose Hill Gym at 7:00 PM.
