Bridgeport, Pa. – (September 1, 2026) – The MAWPC announced its first set of weekly awards on Tuesday with Fordham's
Viktor Savic being named Defensive Player of the Week, while
Oktavian Veklyuk earned Rookie of the Week accolades. It is the first award for both players.
Savic helped Fordham start the season 4-0 at the Bruno Classic, totaling 31 saves, three assists, and five steals over the weekend. He began his Fordham career with four saves and two steals in the Rams' sudden death overtime win over #11 Pacific, while making five saves in the first half against Gannon to go with an assist and a steal. On Sunday, Savic had a monster game in Fordham's 13-10 win over #6 UC Davis, recording 16 saves, and then ended the weekend with six saves and two steals in the first half in a win over Iona.
Veklyuk was an offensive force at the Bruno Classic for the Rams, finishing with a team-high 11 goals to go with five assists and two steals over the weekend. He began his Fordham career by scoring a team-high five goals in the Rams' sudden death overtime win over #11 Pacific, while having a goal and two assists in a win over Gannon. On day two, Veklyuk netted a hat trick and an assist in Fordham's 13-10 win over #6 UC Davis and then ended the weekend with two goals, an assist, and a steal in a win over Iona.

th, as they host #8 Pepperdine at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
