Providence, R.I. – (August 30, 2026) – It was another solid day for the fifth-ranked Fordham water polo team at the Bruno Classic on Sunday, knocking off #6 UC Davis, 13-10, and Iona, 23-7, to finish the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record.
 
MATCH 1 - #5 Fordham 13, #6 UC Davis 10

• The first game on Sunday was the featured match of the entire Bruno Classic, featuring two of the top six teams in the country.
• UC Davis opened with a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, which Fordham battled back in the second to tie the game at three after goals by Andras Toth and Barnabas Eppel.
• The teams then traded goals with UC Davis getting the final one with one minute left to go ahead, 5-4, at the half.
• Fordham then took charge in the third quarter, outscoring the Aggies, 4-2 in the period, to grab an 8-7 lead.
• The tight affair continued in the final frame with the score tied at 10 with 3:45 remaining before Fordham scored the final three goals of the game from Karlo Dragosevic, Diego Tresa, and Oktavian Veklyuk to take home the 13-10 win.
• Viktor Savic was a monster in net for Fordham, recording 16 saves in the victory.
• Toth and Veklyuk each netted a hat trick with Eppel and Dragosevic having two goals apiece.

 
MATCH 2 - #5 Fordham 23, Iona 7

• The Rams wasted little time taking control of the match with a seven-goal first quarter, highlighted by a pair of markers from Tresa.
• Fordham posted five goals in the second quarter to go up, 12-4, and then netted 11 more markers in the second half for a 23-7 final score.
• Charlie Martin scored a career-high four goals to go with an assist and two steals, while Tresa also had four goals and an assist.
• Laszlo Strasser, Gianni Farrugia, Veklyuk, and Balazs Bathory each had a pair of goals with Strasser adding five assists in the contest.
• Savic posted six saves in the first half with two steals, while Alejandro Cheline made four stops in the second half and had two assists.

 
The Rams will next be in action on Friday, September 11^th, as they host #8 Pepperdine at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
